According to Elizabeth Clare Prophet, some people are experts at avoiding their karma or getting someone else to bear it for them:
They may get you or someone else to handle a situation they should be handling. You may be left paying the bill one way or another: perhaps literally, as in opening your wallet, or maybe through a siphoning of your energy. They get you to do their work. Just when you are about to confront them about a situation, they skip town or simply avoid the meeting where the situation will be handled. They often cry or plead and get themselves off the hook by using the ploy of sympathy. (On Strategies of Light and Darkness, pages 96-9
How do we avoid karma dodgers and karma dodging ourselves?
By setting boundaries and not getting caught up in sympathy for ourselves or others:
Be objective. You need to be very clear about what is your duty and what is not. Set loving boundaries in your work and in your personal life....

...Take responsibility for your own karma and your own decisions and choices in life. The fallen ones do not take accountability. The sons and daughters of God do take accountability for their decisions and actions, their thoughts and feelings, their words and deeds. (Page 98)
