The Significance of Cycles: Roberto Assagioli, Psychosynthesis and Alice Bailey Revisited

 

 

     Cycles of time are interesting.  Fifty years ago, the Ascended Master Kuthumi and the Brothers of the Golden Robe, gave a series of 15 dictations through the Messenger Elizabeth Clare Prophet, known as the Exposè of False Teachers and False Teachings.  Forty-eight years ago, while in graduate school, I conducted a workshop on Psychosynthesis, the work of Italian Psychiatrist Roberto Assagioli, having been introduced to the subject while visiting the late Dr. C. Norman Shealy’s clinic in Wisconsin. And, twelve years ago, two teachers with counseling backgrounds who were in the process of developing a spiritual psychology course for students of the Ascended Masters, excitedly told me about what they believed was a new approach to psychology that they thought I would be interested in—Psychosynthesis.  They considered it to be complementary to the teachings of the ascended masters. 

   Knowing full well that the “esoteric roots” of psychosynthesis included messages channeled through Alice Bailey from an entity called “The Tibetan,” given specifically to Assagioli, who was one of her life-long disciples, I was taken aback, and, over a period of several months, attempted to explain to them the difference between the source of Assagioli’s psychology of psychosynthesis and the teachings on psychology that were brought forth by the Ascended Masters—to no avail.  

   They were not interested in hearing the truth of the matter, in spite of the fact that in his Exposè, the Ascended Master Kuthumi flat out stated, “Alice Bailey, due to her lack of surrender to the will of God, never passed the final initiations which would have qualified her as our amanuensis.” The Master exposed “the false teachings subtly woven into the work of Alice Bailey, whose failure to surrender totally rendered her unfit as an instrument of the Tibetan Master [Djwal Kul].”

   And, the Ascended Master Kuthumi further declared, “The way of the intellect is not the path of the Buddha or of the chohans of the rays.  It should not be the path of their chelas. Now the masters of the Far East must seek to undo the harm that has been done to their chelas by the Lucis Trust organization, which claims our backing but has it not at all.”

   I do not know how many students of the Ascended Masters have been influenced by the false teachings from the channeled entity that Assagioli credited as the source of his psychological system of psychosynthesis (1), which were subsequently interwoven with the teachings of the Ascended Masters on the psychology of the soul—but one can only imagine how long it will take the Ascended Masters to undo the harm that has been done to their chelas who have studied such works unaware of their true origin.

   As one student of the Ascended Masters recently impressed upon me—(and I agree): 

“Defense of personality is never lawful nor is it right.  When dealing with the teachings of the Ascended Masters, one’s loyalty must be to the Masters and their Truth, regardless of one’s human circumstances and allegiances.  To interweave the teachings of the Ascended Masters with false teachings is wrong.”
